Introducing Joshua

Joshua joined Bowmore Financial Planning in November 2024, but was effectively “returning” to the fold, having worked for the company between 2017 and 2020. The interim years were spent at a large City investment manager, Rathbones Group, and a European wealth management firm advising expatriates in France. He is permanently based in Bowmore’s London office but advises clients across the south of England.

Joshua has spent his career assisting high-net-worth individuals with their holistic financial planning needs. Previous roles have been highly technical in nature, focusing on complex and multifaceted work for wealthy families. As a result of this past work, he has built a deep and lasting understanding of planning strategies involving offshore bonds and trusts. Joshua maintains a keen interest in sustainable investment and views offshore European financial planning as somewhat of a specialism, due to the two years he spent in Bordeaux with Blevins Franks.

A member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Joshua holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (level 4) and Certificate in Discretionary Investment Management (level 4). Prior to joining the wealth management industry, he studied at University College London (UCL).

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Demonstrating how much value proper financial planning can add to a clients' position. Linking this added value to the achievement of “real world” client objectives is a particular highlight for me. Building wealth is a means to an end, not the “end” in itself, so it is always a great moment when I help a client reach that “end” point (or setup the pathway to get there).

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

Sailing in the Adriatic. Skiing in the Austrian Alps. Cooking a new pasta recipe. Hiking a familiar coast path in Dorset. Long walks on Hampstead Heath or Wimbledon Common.

One thing that is guaranteed to make your day better…

A cold beer at the Sloaney Pony.

What made you decide to do the work you’re currently doing?

I opened my first dealing account at the age of 18 – needless to say it was a steep learning curve, but the technical intricacies of the experience cemented an interest in investment markets. I went straight into wealth management after university and have never looked back…

What is one personal rule that you never break?

Always take the stairs.

What would your specialist subject be on Mastermind?

The Habsburg Empire or Greek islands.
